Asiya is a sportswear company that focuses on providing culturally appropriate clothing. The Asiya headband, the company's first product line, is an example of that focus; it's a breathable, flexible sports hijab that helps Muslim girls and women to participate in sports as easily as their non-Muslim counterparts.
According to Asiya, the participation rate of Muslim girls in sports is about half of their peers. One very material and basic reason for that disparity is the religious clothing that Muslim girls wear. Standard hijabs are either made from a heavy material like jersey that doesn't breath well enough for sports or a very light material like chiffon that won't stay in place. The Asiya hijabs are made from stretchy and breathable material that form fits around girls' heads, allowing for more mobility during sports.
