Humanscale, a leader in human-centered design, introduces the Diffrient Lounge, a chair that reimagines living and working in hybrid environments. Recently awarded the iF Design Award 2026, the design builds on a concept by Niels Diffrient, now reinterpreted by Humanscale Design Studio for today. Positioned as a new benchmark in lounge seating, it blends residential comfort with workplace performance and ergonomic precision.
Sculptural yet intuitive, the chair reflects Diffrient’s philosophy of function-driven design. It responds naturally to the body, with an adjustable headrest and a backrest that supports the spine’s natural curve. A refined recline mechanism and motorized adjustments allow seamless posture shifts, while an integrated worksurface and discreet USB-C ports support modern workflows.
Designed for versatility, the Diffrient Lounge fits effortlessly across home and professional settings. Premium materials—including Kvadrat and Dedar textiles, Ultrafabrics leathers, and wood or laminate worksurfaces—enable it to adapt to spaces ranging from living rooms to executive offices and hospitality environments.
