Marathon Tours & Travel is a specialized travel provider for runners and recently, the company facilitated an extraordinary feat of endurance and adventure as 68-year-old American runner Timothy Heitzwebel won the 2026 Madagascar Marathon. This victory comes just one week after the athlete competed in the Abbott World Marathon Majors Age Group World Championship in Cape Town, South Africa.

Timothy Heitzwebel was among a group of 18 athletes who participated in the company's 'African Double Challenge', a back-to-back racing itinerary that required participants to complete two full marathons on consecutive weekends across two distinct countries and vastly different terrains. This feat was designed to test both physical resilience and logistical adaptability. The Cape Town race served as the official Age Group World Championships, a prestigious event that gathers the fastest qualifying age-group runners from the global Abbott World Marathon Majors series, while the subsequent Madagascar Marathon offered a starkly contrasting experience through remote and biodiverse landscapes far removed from the traditional urban marathon circuit.

For four additional participants — Jan Nielsen, Lisbeth Staxen, Ashley Palk, and Daniel Haight — Marathon Tours & Travel’s Madagascar race held particular significance as it marked the completion of their seventh continent. This earns them membership in the esteemed Seven Continents Club by having run a marathon or half-marathon on every landmass on Earth.
