Deep Orange 17是能源正向電動車概念

Deep Orange 17 is a research electric vehicle developed by Clemson University in collaboration with BMW of North America that explores energy-positive mobility through integrated solar technology. Also known as Luminetta, the two-seat concept incorporates 1,781 photovoltaic cells across its exterior, allowing the body to generate electricity while driving or parked. Developed with Germany's Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, the solar array continues producing power under partial shade. Simulation data suggests the vehicle can generate an average surplus equivalent to approximately 31 miles of range beyond a typical 12-mile daily commute.

The prototype weighs 550 kilograms (1,212 pounds) through a multi-material structure combining steel, aluminum, carbon fiber and 3D-printed metal joints. Its streamlined body draws inspiration from the boxfish to improve aerodynamic efficiency, while regenerative braking, optimized torque distribution and drivetrain controls reduce energy consumption. The interior includes a custom vehicle interface alongside Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
